FISHERS - Megan Taylor completed her season in a familiar position.
The Jay County High School junior competed at the diving regional meet Wednesday at Hamilton Southeastern, finishing 17th for the second straight season. The top eight divers from each regional advance to the state finals.
Taylor scored 195.5 points, about nine more than last season, in her first five dives at Wednesday's meet. It was not enough for her cut to the top 12 in the 11-dive event.
After finishing as the runner-up in the sectional, Taylor again finished second in the regional among the divers who advanced from the Jay County meet. She finished ahead of sectional champion Kenna Gibson (188.55) of Delta and her Eagle teammate Kaitlyn Kennedy (195.15). Norwell's Leah Huggins was 15th with 232.95 points.
Fishers' Gail Susdorf, who was seventh in the state last season, won the regional title by nearly 50 points at 529.6. Other state qualifiers include her teammate Shelby Bartlett, Megan Potee and Katie Bittner of Noblesville, Carmel's Sara Meisenhelder, West Lafayette's Caitlin Sotelo, Fort Wayne Concordia's Hannah Osborn and Katrina Kain of the host Royals.
Taylor was the Olympic Athletic Conference champion this season.[[In-content Ad]]
