Teacher named to honor roll (06/29/06)

Jodi McKee, Portland, has been accepted as a member of the National Honor Roll’s Outstanding American Teachers for 2005-2006.

NHR’s program recognizes educators who have made a difference in their communities.

McKee, a third grade teacher at General Shanks Elementary School in Portland, will now appear in the NHR commemorative edition.

Receives degrees

Lauren Nicole McKee, daughter of Mike and Jodi McKee, Portland, recently earned a bachelor of arts degree from Anderson University.

More than 570 undergraduate and graduate students received degrees during the graduation ceremony.

Megan C. Shawver, daughter of Ronald and JoEllen Johnston, Portland, recently graduated from the College of Business Administration at Ohio Northern University.

She received a bachelor of science in business administration degree in accounting.

On campus Shawver was active in the women’s golf team and the Alpha Xi Delta social sorority.

Several local residents recently earned degrees from the University of Indianapolis.

They included: Kimberly Alleen Abbott, Portland, cum laude, bachelor of science; Kyle C. Monroe, Portland, bachelor of arts; Anne Elaine Myron, Hartford City, bachelor of science; Bradley Vincent Ontrop, Portland, bachelor of science; Devon Dale Phillips, Dunkirk, bachelor of arts; and Denise Marie Towell, Portland, bachelor of science.

Named to dean’s list

Ashley Muhlenkamp, 3850 East 800 North, Bryant, has been named to the dean’s list for the Spring semester of 2006 at Butler University, Indianapolis, where she is a student in the College of Business.

A 2003 graduate of Jay County High School, she is the daughter of Bonnie and Richard Muhlenkamp.

Katie Alberson has received recognition on the national dean’s list for the Spring semester of the 2005 2006 academic year at Indiana Wesleyan University, Marion.

She is the daughter of Jim and Robin Alberson, Portland, and is a 2004 graduate of Jay County High School.

Jennifer J. Street, daughter of Gary and Barbara Street, 608 West 400 South, Portland, has been named to the College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences dean’s list for Spring, 2006, at Butler University, Indianapolis.

Only 20 percent of students reach this mark at Butler, according to Patricia Chase, dean of the university.

Emily Ann Lyons, 7183 South, 100 East, and Jessica Marie Heitkamp, 8645 East 400 North, Portland, are among the 789 DePauw University students who have been recognized for outstanding academic performance and named to the dean’s list for the 2006 spring semester.

Lyons is a sophomore at DePauw and Heitkamp is a first-year student.

Stephanie Homan, Portland, has been named to the dean’s list at the University of Saint Francis, Fort Wayne. She is a nursing student.

To be named to the list students must maintain a 3.5 grade point average on a four-point scale and have carried at least 12 credit hours.[[In-content Ad]]
