Teen Read Week starting at JCPL (10/13/06)

Teen Read Week will begin Monday at Jay County Public Library with events planned for teens in grades six through 12.
Get Active @ your library will include an exercise scavenger hunt on Tuesday from 7 to 8 p.m. and Ridiculous Renditions of Regular Stuff on Friday from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m.
Teens checking a book out any time during the week of Oct. 16 will receive a small prize and enter a drawing for a sports item. There will also be a celebrity sports star matching game with prizes and a teens' top 10 reading list to vote for your favorites.

Story times will be Monday at 10 a.m. and Tuesday at 1 p.m. at J.C.P.L. Four to five books will be read aloud and the making of a craft will follow.
Children infants and older are inivted, but must be accompanied by an adult.

Family fun time will be Thursday, Oct. 19, at 9:30 a.m. There will be stories, toys, music and instruments to share. Infants and toddlers are welcome with an adult.

"Boo-rific," a family Halloween show will be Monday, Oct. 23, at 6:30 p.m. The event is for the entire family and kids may come dressed in costume. There will be magic, storytelling and important safety tips. Halloween goodie bags will be passed out.
Earns degrees
Area students recently earned degrees from Ball State University during the summer semester.
Rachel Faus, Dunkirk, earned a bachelor of arts degree. Earning bachelor of science degrees were Grace Foglesong and Dustin Robbins, both of Dunkirk; and John Nill and Tyler Schmiesing, both from Portland. Andrea Oswalt, Portland, earned a master of arts in education.
Accepted
Adrienne Elizabeth Rines, Portland, recently accepted membership in Golden Key International Honour Society and was honored during an induction ceremony at Ball State University.
The honour society provides academic recognition to college juniors and seniors in the top 15 percent of their class as well as leadership development opportunities, community service, career networking and scholarships.[[In-content Ad]]
