Thanks for Dunkirk event (08/19/2008)

Letter to the Editor

To the editor:

We would like to thank all the organizations, churches, sororities and clubs who helped by providing games, sponsorship of food or prizes or assistance in running the Fourth annual Dunkirk Community Social.

As many know, Dunkirk and its residents have been hit very hard economically the past years. This was once again an attempt to bring the community together and enjoy the city park's facilities.

The community social was held July 27 at Dunkirk City Park and was free. The social was made up of free old-fashioned games, free food and fellowship.

There were more than 500 people in attendance and this year we had participation and/or donations from 76 sponsors in Dunkirk, Portland, Redkey, Albany and Hartford City.

A very special thanks to Tom Johnson, Butch Parfitt, Kyle Cook, Nicholas Pryor, Tony McCowan, Andy Hughes and the inmates of the Jay County Jail for all their hard work in preparing and beautifying the park for everyone's enjoyment.

The following is a list of those who helped or donated:
