Three earn ACAC honors

A trio of South Adams High School girls basketball players were named to the Allen County Athletic Conference teams.
Dzejna Ahmetovic received first-team all-ACAC honors. The senior was also named to the Hoosier Basketball Magazine top 100 senior girls Feb. 12.
Earning second-team honors were Alyssa Bluhm, also a senior, and sophomore Syndey Willis.
The trio powered the Starfires to a 13-7 (3-4 ACAC) record, matching its win total from the previous three seasons combined. It was the first time South Adams reached double figures in wins since the 2001 season and marked the program’s first winning record this millennium.
Bader breaks records
Alex Bader broke two of her own records Thursday, leading the Jay County middle school swim team to a 178-126 win over Bluffton.
The boys lost their first meet of the season, 170-141.
Bader improved her team record in the 100-yard individual medley with a time of 1 minute, 3.08 seconds. She also lowered her 50 butterfly record to 27.52 seconds.
Elizabeth McDowell and Kaitlyn Dow also won two events apiece. McDowell won the 500 freestyle and 100 backstroke, and Dow placed first in the 50 and 100 freestyle.
Single event winners for the girls were Erica Hathaway (200 freestyle) and Courtney Miles (diving).
For the boys, Noah Hummel placed first in the 50 and 100 freestyle. Christopher McDowell (400 freestyle) and Tayler Smeltzer (200 freestyle) also won their respective events.
Hamilton leads Eagles
PARKER CITY — Nathan Hamilton went a perfect 3-0 on Thursday, as the West Jay wrestling team went 2-1 at the Monroe Central quad meet.
The Eagles beat the host Golden Bears, 66-36, and topped Selma, 52-18. Their only loss was to Muncie Wilson, 64-24.
Danny Kilgore was the other undefeated wrestler for West Jay, winning his only match.
The Eagles had seven other wrestlers post winning records.
Malcolm McIntire, Mitchel Ferguson, Logan Drumm, Chase Gillette, Dustin Minnick, Keegan Kane and Larkin Alsip all went 2-1 for the meet.[[In-content Ad]]
