Hope Hurst

Hope Elizabeth Hurst, 91, Warren, died Tuesday afternoon in the Bluffton Regional Medical Center, Bluffton.

Born in Harrison Township in Wells County to Harry E. and Tottie (Stout) Mendenhall on June 12, 1912, she married Harry P. Hurst on March 29, 1969 in Lafayette. He died on Aug. 22, 1985.

A lab technician at Caylor-Nickel Clinic for 29 years before her retirement in 1976, she was a nursing home volunteer and the bloodmobile.

She was a member of the Bluffton First Baptist Church, the Daughters of the American Revolution, Frances Godfrey Chapter, Montpelier, and the Eastern Star Chapter where she held many offices.

Survivors include a sister and several nieces and nephews.

Services are Friday at 10:30 a.m. at Thoma/Rich, Hewitt and Chaney Funeral Home, Bluffton, with Ted Ellis officiating. Burial will follow in I.O.O.F. Cemetery, Pennville.

Visitation is Thursday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. An Eastern Star service will take place at 7:30 p.m.
