Hubert Hedges
Oct. 30, 1913-Aug. 17, 2011
Services for Hubert M. Hedges, 97, are Sunday at 2 p.m. at Williamson and Spencer Funeral Home in Portland with Pastor Tim Dilley officiating. A former resident of Penn Township in Jay County, he died Wednesday at CrownPointe Communities in Portland.
Born in Wells County to James and Grace (Bloxsome) Hedges, he graduated from Pennville High School in 1933.
He was preceded in death on July 16, 2005, by his second wife Hannah (Girton) Hedges, whom he married on Dec. 21, 1988.
His first wife Georgia Edwinna (McCarty) Hedges died on June 18, 1985. They were married on Nov. 28, 1934.
He farmed in Penn Township and Blackford County for many years and attended Asbury United Methodist Church in Portland.
Survivors include three sons, James B. Hedges (wife: Carol), Portland, Thomas H. Hedges (wife: Diane), Fremont, and Donovan Mac Hedges (wife: Jody), Ossian; 10 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
Visitation is Saturday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in West Grove Cemetery, west of Bryant.

Lawrence Dumpert Jr.

Lawrence “Larry” Dumpert Jr., 79, Bluffton, father of a Pennville woman, died Tuesday at Visiting Nurse & Hospice Home in Fort Wayne.
Born in Eadsville. Ky., to Thelma I. (Thornburgh) and Lawrence Dumpert Sr., he was preceded in death on Sept. 2, 2004, by his wife Edwina Ruth (Leahy) Dumpert whom he married on Aug. 8, 1952.
He was a veteran of the United States Navy and worked at General Electric in Fort Wayne and B.R.C. in Bluffton and Montpelier.
Surviving are a son; three daughters, including Lori Wolfgang (husband: Jay), Pennville; two sisters; four brothers; 14 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
Services are Saturday at 10:30 a.m. at Walker & Glancy Funeral Home in Montpelier with Pastor Dick Frederick officiating. Burial will be in Six Mile Cemetery in Bluffton with military graveside rites conducted by Grover Sheets American Legion Post No. 111 in Bluffton.
Visitation is Friday from 2 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Memorials may be sent to Shriners Hospitals for Children or Visiting Nurse & Hospice Home in Fort Wayne.

Lucy Loraine Walker, 77, Muncie, the mother of a Dunkirk woman, died Tuesday at IU Health Ball Memorial Hospital.
Born in Winchester to Donald Everett and Mary Margaret (Monroe) Anacker, she was preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, Roy Carmel Walker.
Surviving are two daughters, including Burma Stanton (husband: Timothy), Dunkirk; a son; three brothers; eight grandchildren; six great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Services are Saturday at 1 p.m. at Parson Mortuary with the Rev. S. Pete Powell officiating. Burial will be in Fountain Park Cemetery in Winchester.
Visitation is Friday from 4 to 8 p.m. and one hour prior to services on Saturday at the funeral home.
