Semi truck accident
Vehicles driven by an Ohio man and a Greens Fork man collided in Wayne Township on Monday.
A 2008 International semi truck driven by Anthony O. Kahlig, 47, 3247 Ohio 219, Coldwater, and a 2003 Peterbilt semi truck driven by Darren K. Doerstiler, 36, 12067 Fox Road, collided at 1:05 p.m.
According to Jay County police, Doerstiler was driving north on U.S. 27. He attempted to pass Kahlig, who was waiting to turn west on county road 200 South. The Peterbilt collided with the right rear of the International.
Combined damage to the International, registered to John Cheeseman, 2200 Ohio 219, Fort Recovery, and the Peterbilt, registered to Doerstiler Trucking LLC, 9613 Sugar Grove Road, Economy, was estimated at $10,000 to $25,000.
Urgent need
The American Red Cross is in urgent need of blood donors.
Donors of all types are needed — especially type O negative.
The next blood drive in Jay County is Tuesday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Jay Community Center, 115 E. Water St., Portland. Donors will receive a free stadium seat cushion.

Backing accident
A Portland woman was backing out of her driveway and struck a vehicle being driven by a neighbor Wednesday evening.
Tina L. Cavenaugh, 49, 125 Bittersweet Lane, was backing out of her driveway when she backed into an SUV being driven by Jeffrey R. Wittington, 45, 122 Bittersweet Lane, Portland, who stopped at his mailbox.
An estimated $1,000 to $2,500 of damage was caused to Cavenaugh’s 2006 Ford Fusion, registered to Moser Motors of Portland, 1509 N. Meridian St, Portland, and Wittington’s 2000 Toyota Rav-4.
