COUNTY BURGLARY
A laptop computer and compact disc player were taken in a burglary of a Madison Township home sometime Tuesday or Wednesday.
Pauline Williamson, the daughter of homeowner Imogene Raszkowski, reported the break-in Wednesday afternoon.
Entry to the home, located at 4299 South 850 East, Portland, was gained by breaking a glass panel in a door. No value for the stolen items was listed on a report by Jay County police.
DEER HIT
A vehicle driven by a Dunkirk woman struck a deer Tuesday in Knox Township.
Amanda J. Ring, 25, 620 Hickory St., told Jay County police she was driving east on county road 200 South, just west of county road 825 West, when a deer ran onto the road at about 6:30 p.m.
She said she could not avoid the collision.
Estimated damage to the 2000 Dodge Ram pick-up truck driven by Ring, and also registered to Jeremy Ring, same address, was less than $1,000.
UNAUTHORIZED
A representative of LifeStream Services Inc. said Wednesday said that the organization has received reports that someone has been using the agency’s name in an attempt to solicit funds.
Judi Ritter, director of planning and development for the Yorktown-based not-for-profit, said that LifeStream does not make phone calls to solicit donations.
A release from LifeStream said one call included an offer to buy trash bags, with the promise proceeds would assist those with spinal cord injuries.
Local law enforcement agencies were notified of the calls.
