Guilty plea
A Pennville man pleaded guilty to driving after being adjudged a habitual traffic offender, a class D felony, on Dec. 22 in Jay Superior Court.
Rex A. Edmundson Jr., 43, is scheduled to appear for his sentencing on Tuesday, Feb. 24, at 9 a.m.
He was arrested on Jan. 12, 2003 by Indiana State Police for driving after he was adjudged a habitual traffic offender.
Sentenced
A Geneva man received a six-year prison sentence Monday in Adams Circuit Court for a burglary committed in June or July of 2003 in southwestern Adams County.
Chance M. Ehr, 18, rural Geneva, pleaded guilty to the class C felony and admitted he had illegally entered a barn and stolen property.
Judge Fred A. Schurger suspended two of the years to be served and granted Ehr credit for time spent in jail since Sept. 26, 2003. Ehr also will serve two years probation after his release from the Indiana Department of Correction.
Ehr also must pay $1,118 in restitution, which includes $700 for a motorcycle that was stolen and never returned to the owner.
A charge of vehicle theft was dismissed.

Indiana Gov. Joe Kernan was expected to announce today his support for full-day kindergarten, a pricey initiative the late Gov. Frank O’Bannon largely failed to achieve even when the state was flush with cash, The Associated Press reported.
Kernan planned to detail his proposal and how he intended to pay for it during a news conference at an elementary school in Indianapolis late this morning, according to Statehouse sources.
O’Bannon made optional full-day kindergarten his top legislative priority in 1999, his third year in office. The cost to implement it statewide then, when the state had a large surplus, was estimated to be around $100 million.
Although many lawmakers in both parties supported the concept, as did Republican Superintendent of Public Instruction Suellen Reed, the Democrat-controlled House and Republican-led Senate approved a two-year budget in 1999 that did not fund the program.
Deaths
Robert Clair Beall, 82, Seven Points, Texas, a native of Redkey.
Edith E. Shook, 84, 328 E. Weller St., Ansonia, Ohio.
