Pleads to felony

An Ohio man who pleaded guilty and was sentenced on a felony charge recently pleaded guilty to another.

Michael Adams, 23, Bellefontaine, pleaded guilty Tuesday in Jay Circuit Court to prisoner possessing dangerous device or material, a class B felony. He is set to be sentenced Aug. 11 at 8:30 a.m.

Adams was sentenced in January to 10 years in prison for robbing the Budget Inn, Portland, at gunpoint. While being held in the Jay County Jail he possessed a metal shank made out of a bed sheet and metal from a heating vent. He possessed the weapon on Feb. 13.

The charge was filed against him on March 26, while he was still in jail.

Request denied

A rural Portland man's request to have his sentence changed was recently denied in Jay Circuit Court.

The sentence modification request made by Kable E. Daniels, 29, was denied on Monday. Daniels asked for an alternative sentence so he could obtain employment.

He was sentenced May 7, 2007, on a charge of arson, a class B felony, to six years in the Indiana Department of Correction.

Pleads to possession

A convicted felon recently pleaded guilty to a charge of unlawful possession of a firearm by a serious violent felon, a class B felony.

Jesse Bost, 47, pleaded guilty Tuesday in Jay Circuit Court. He is set to be sentenced Sept. 5 at 1 p.m.

On Feb. 22, he possessed a .357-caliber revolver. On that day, he was pulled over by Portland police on suspicion of intoxicated driving. Police found a gun in his vehicle. He previously was convicted of criminal confinement.

To be sentenced

A Redkey man is set to be sentenced in August on a felony drug dealing charge.

Chris Jones, 39, Redkey, pleaded guilty Monday to dealing in a schedule IV controlled substance, a class C felony. He is set to be sentenced in Jay Circuit Court Aug. 15 at 1:30 p.m.

Jones was arrested on a warrant on March 27. On Dec. 5 he sold Alprazolam to a police informant.

Sentenced in Adams

A Geneva man recently was sentenced in Adams Superior Court to jail time after he pleaded guilty to several charges.

Brian W. Coblentz, 29, pleaded guilty to possession of marijuana, resisting law enforcement, driving while intoxicated endangering a person and battery. He was sentenced to 180 days in the Adams County Jail, with 150 days suspended.

He also was sentenced to three concurrent one-year sentences, with all but 40 days of each suspended.

Coblentz was placed on probation for two years, and ordered to pay $528.50 in court costs. His driver's license was suspended for six months and he was ordered to complete alcohol and substance abuse counseling programs.[[In-content Ad]]
