Sleeping crash
A Winchester woman fell asleep at the wheel and struck a vehicle in southern Portland.
Angela Kitashojl, 43, 1501 E. Base Road, told police she fell asleep while driving south on Meridian Street and struck a semi trailer driven by Jonathan M. Grieshop, 27, 6371 Wabash Road, Celina, Ohio at the intersection of Meridian and Seventh streets while he was making a right turn.
About $5,000 to $10,000 of combined damage was done to Kitashojl's 2002 Mercury Sable and Grieshop's 2000 PBT Semi, registered to A Landon Excavating.
The accident occurred at 5 p.m. Wednesday.
Pedestrian bumped
A Redkey woman bumped into a pedestrian and her cart while backing out of a parking space at Portland's Wal-Mart.
Shawnee G. Morton, 40, 25 E. Sheridan St., was backing out of her parking space at Wal-Mart and told police she didn't see Grace E. Shreeve, 76, 103 N. Hendrix St., Bryant. Morton bumped Shreeve and her cart.
No major injuries were sustained in the accident.
Knocked over
A set of front steps was knocked over at a Portland mobile home park.
Bobby Mock, 1237 N. U.S. 27 Lot 19, reported to the Jay County Sheriff's Department that someone had knocked over his front porch steps during the day Wednesday.
The steps were not damaged and Mock set them back into position, but wanted to report the mischief.[[In-content Ad]]
