Services for Cody Lanning, 18, 3627 West 650 North, Bryant, are Saturday at 10 a.m. at Baird-Freeman Funeral Home with Pastor Flint Redwine officiating. He died Tuesday evening in a drowning accident in a pond southeast of Portland.
Born in Portland, he was the son of Wade Lanning and Julie Hart, both of Portland.
He attended Jay County High School, where he was a member of the Jay County High School Band.
He worked at Wal-Mart in Portland and attended Southside Church of Christ in Portland.
Surviving besides his parents are two brothers, Curtis Hart and Derrick Lanning, both of Portland; two sisters, Jessica Hart, Portland, and Ashley Sikora, Mishawaka; grandparents, Peggy Lanning, Portland, Mrs. Mike (Debbie) Atkinson, Portland, and Richard and Diana Hart, Ridgeville; great-grandmothers, Joan Hart and Ethel Baker, both of Portland.
Visitation is Friday from 3 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in Gravel Hill Cemetery in Bryant.

Services for Brandon Wade Clay, 18, rural Portland, are Saturday at 11 a.m. in the Portland Chapel of the Williamson and Spencer Funeral Home with Pastor Jeff Bullard officiating. He died Tuesday evening in a drowning accident in a pond southeast of Portland.
Born in Albuquerque, N.M. to Curtis E. and Donna S. (Breeze) Clay, he graduated from Jay County High School in 2008.
He worked at Wal-Mart in Portland as a cashier and liked to draw and write poetry.
Survivors include his father and his wife Curtis E. and Patty Clay Portland; a brother, Nathanael Clay, Portland; three sisters; Annetta Williams, Portland, Mrs. Cory (Michelle) Gibson and Mrs. Rob (Pamela) Filby, both of Winchester; grandparents, Barbara Tavasci, Winchester, and William and Jackie Breeze, Albuquerque; great-grandmother, Myrtle Green, Winchester; one niece and three nephews.
Visitation is Friday from 3 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in Green Park Cemetery in Portland.

Judith "Judy" Ann Hood, 70, Parker City, the sister of a Geneva woman, died Tuesday at Ball Memorial Hospital.
Born in Liberty Center, Ohio, to Robert and Mildred (Hoffer) Fancil, she was preceded in death by her husband of 44 years, Corbet Hood, whom she married on Aug. 30, 1954.
Survivors include three sons; a daughter; a brother; a sister, Barbara West, Geneva; three half brothers; a half sister; three stepbrothers; a stepsister; 12 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law.
Services are Friday at 2 p.m. at Garden View Funeral Home, Muncie. Burial will be in Gardens of Memory, Muncie.
Visitation is today from 4 to 8 p.m. and one hour prior to services on Friday at the funeral home.

Thomas B. Johnston, 49, Tipton, died Wednesday at Tipton Hospital.
Born in Portland to Robert and Aletha (Remaklus) Johnston, he lived in Portland until 1980.
He is survived by his wife Martha Rose Beymer, whom he married on Nov. 3, 1979.
He was the owner of Johnston Heating and Air Conditioning in Tipton and a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Tipton and Tipton Moose Lodge.
Surviving besides his wife are a son, Ryan Thomas Johnston, Indianapolis; two daughters, Mrs. Aaron (Amy Lucille) Moats, Windfall, and Mrs. Josh (Amber Marie) Stephens, Kokomo; his mother, Aletha Johnston, Portland; seven brothers, Ron, Carl, Gary, Richard, Dan, Mark and Bob Johnston; three sisters, Mrs. Jack (Diana) Link, Mrs. Dale (Karen) Wolford and Jane Johnston, all of Portland; and two grandchildren.
Services are Monday at 11 a.m. at Young-Nichols Funeral Home in Tipton. Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery, Tipton.
Visitation is Sunday from 2 to 6 p.m. at the funeral home.
