Backing accident
A car driven by an Albany man backed into another vehicle Tuesday afternoon in Portland.
Seth J. Kirby, 23, 5339 North 500 East, Albany, told police he was stopped eastbound on Votaw Street at Meridian Street when he saw a semi attempting to make a turn west onto Votaw Street.
Kirby said he backed up to give space but collided with a car, driven by Stacey Hebenthal, 36, 109 W Main St., Saratoga.
Damage to the vehicles in the 3:27 p.m. accident was estimated between $1,000 and $2,500.
ATV stolen
A Portland man reported that someone took his ATV sometime Wednesday.
Mel Lowe, 904 S. Meridian St., told police someone stole his red 1989 Honda 300 sometime between 8 a.m. and 3 p.m.
Lowe said the vehicle was parked at 910 S. Meridian St.
In area courts
A judgment has been awarded in Wells Superior Court in favor of SAC Finance against Mildred M. Rice, Redkey, in the amount of $6,157.85.
David A. Fortman, 38, Fort Recovery, pleaded no contest in Celina Municipal Court recently to an amended charge of physical control while under the influence of alcohol. He received a 10-day suspended jail sentence, was fined $350, had his license suspended for 120 days, and was ordered to attend alcohol counseling. He was also assessed court costs. The suspended sentence is contingent upon having no alcohol-related violations for two years.[[In-content Ad]]
