Request denied
A rural Portland man's request to have his sentence modified was recently denied in Jay Circuit Court.
Monte Coonce, 39, asked for his remaining sentence to be served on home detention or work release. The request was denied March 5.
Coonce was sentenced Aug. 26 to two years in prison, with one day credit, for dealing in meth, a class B felony.
Sentenced for driving
A Portland man has been sentenced to prison time for driving after his license was suspended for life.
Nathan D. Brock, 41, was found guilty by a Jay Superior Court jury on Feb. 3 of driving a motor vehicle after forfeiture for life, a class C felony. He was sentenced March 4 to five years in the Indiana Department of Correction with credit for 112 days served. He was ordered to pay $164 in court costs.
Brock was arrested May 27, 2007, after he led Portland police on a brief pursuit.[[In-content Ad]]
