James Hinshaw
April 18, 1947-May 13, 2009
James "Jim" F. Hinshaw, 62, rural Portland, died Wednesday at his home following an extended illness.
Born to Kenneth L. and Mary Anna (Zigler) Hinshaw, he attended Gray School in Jay County and was a resident of Pike Township.
He is survived by his wife Sherry (Frame) Hinshaw, whom he married on July 5, 1975.
Retiring from the Jay County Highway Department in 2006 after 20 years of service, he was a farmer in Bearcreek Township for several years and was a truck driver for several years.
Memberships include the Circle X Riding Club in Winchester, Jay County Trail Riders Association and Tri-State Gas Engine and Tractor Association.
Surviving besides his wife are four sons, Kenneth "Fred" HInshaw, rural Portland, David Hinshaw, Kansas City, Mo., James "Bud" Young, Corinth, Ky., and William "Bill" Young, Clearfield, Ky.; a daughter, Kylea Lee, Portland; two sisters, Mrs. John (Carolyn Sue) Friend and Mrs. Allen (Ruth Helen) Bruss, both of Portland; 13 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.
Services are Saturday at 10 a.m. in the Portland Chapel of the Williamson and Spencer Funeral Home with Pastors Jeff Horsman and Russell Fraley officiating. Burial will be in Gravel Hill Cemetery, west of Bryant.
Visitation is Friday from 2 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Memorials may be sent to Jay County Cancer Society or State of the Heart Hospice with envelopes available at the funeral home.

Thelma R. Welsh, 91, Winchester, the sister of a Dunkirk woman, died Monday at Heritage Point in Warren.
Born in Randolph County to Ray and Alice (Bell) Batten, she was preceded in death in 1973 by her husband Warren C. Welsh.
Surviving are two daughters; a brother; four sisters, including Marsha Bost, Dunkirk; four grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
Services are Friday at 1 p.m. at Thayer Funeral Home in Winchester. Burial will be in Fountain Park Cemetery in Winchester.
Visitation is Friday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the funeral home.
Memorials may be sent to Heritage Point with envelopes available at the funeral home.
