The Pennville Planning Commission will meet May 27 at 7 p.m. in Pennville Town Hall, 150 N. Washington St.

The town council meeting for Ridgeville, scheduled for May 20, will now be held on May 27 at 7 p.m. at the Library/Fire Building. For more information, call the clerk's office at (765) 857-2377.

The Indiana Bureau of Motor Vehicles' BMV2You will be in Portland Friday from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the site of the future license branch on West Votaw Street across from the Wal-Mart Supercenter.
Rear-end accident
Vehicles driven by a North Dakota man and a Portland man collided Wednesday afternoon.
A 1994 Ford F-150 driven by Michael L. Williams, 39, 211 First Street West, Hunter, N.D., and a 1997 Oldsmobile Silhouette driven by Paul L. Franks, 72, 1225 W. Main St., Portland, collided at Votaw Street and Glen Street in Portland.
Williams told Portland police he was driving west on Votaw Street and looked away from the street to talk to his passenger. When he looked back at the street, he realized Franks was stopped in front of him. His Ford then struck the rear of the Oldsmobile.
Combined damage to the Ford and the Oldsmobile was estimated at $5,000 to $10,000.
Decatur accident
A vehicle driven by a Portland man was involved in a two-vehicle accident in Decatur recently.
Eldon R. Stevens, 72, told Decatur police he was stopped for a stoplight at 13th and Boolman streets. The rear of his car was hit by a van driven by Howard A. Middaugh, 49, Auburn.
The accident occurred Sunday at 3 p.m.
Combined damage to the vehicles was estimated at $1,000 to $2,500.
Motorbike tour
A motorcycle tour that raises money for the Indiana Children's Wish Fund will have a start in Jay County.
Saturday's tour will start at 1 p.m. in nine different locations. One of the locations is the Second Chance Bar and Grill, 116 E. Commerce St., Dunkirk. The two-day American Bikers Aimed Toward Education (ABATE) ride will end at the Robinsons Farm, 6006 East Ind. 40, east of Straughn.
Admission for the motorcycle ride is $15 per person, or $20 per couple. To join the ride call Joe Adams at (765) 521-3235.
Theft of tools
A Portland man discovered his tools were missing after a recent move into a new apartment.
Two weeks ago Randy Mock, 997 S. Boundary Pike, discovered the absence of several tools. The tools in question include: a portable air tank, a two-square-feet gray tool box, five socket sets that varied in size, one set of nut drivers, one set of wrenches, one set of impact sockets, and one impact diver. Most of the tools were Stanley and Craftsman brand.
The tools were taken from a garage at 1096 South 500 West.
Juvenile referred
A Dunkirk teenager has been referred to the Jay County Probation Department for allegedly shoplifting at the Wal-Mart Supercenter, Portland.
The 16-year-old male is accused of stealing a bottle of Jack Daniel's whiskey, valued at $24.44. The theft occurred Tuesday evening, Portland police said.
Theft, a class D felony when committed by an adult, is considered an act of delinquency when committed by a juvenile.
Log splitter stolen
A Roann woman told Jay County police that her log splitter was stolen.
Dora Smithers, 105 S. Ohio St., said during the week of May 5 to May 12 a log splitter was stolen from her mother's property located on county road 600 North, near county road 350 West, in Jay County.
Smithers said she suspects a company hired to work on her mother's property may have taken the splitter.[[In-content Ad]]
