Local notes

Weekend in the Park scheduled

Randolph County YMCA's Weekend in the Park will include a 5K and 10K races as well as a 3-on-3 basketball tournament June 5.

The races will start at 8:30 a.m. to Winchester High School. The entry fee is $15.

The basketball tournament, with divisions for players from third grade through high school, will begin at 10:30 a.m. in the WCCHS Gym. The entry fee is $60 per team.

Golf outing set for Saturday

The J. Gordon Meeker Golf Tournament, hosted by Jay Community Center, will be Saturday at Portland Golf Club.

Registration will be at 7:30 p.m. followed by a shotgun start at 8 a.m. It will be a four-person scramble format.

Rockets workout set

The Portland Rockets will hold a workout Sunday for anyone interested in playing for the team this season.

The workout will be Sunday at 2 p.m. at Portland Memorial Park's Runkle-Miller Field. For more information, call manager Randy Miller at (260) 703-2003.

Final community swim is Sunday

Jay County High School will host its final community swim session of the year Sunday.

The JCHS pool will be open to the public from 2 to 4 p.m. The entry fee is $2, and an adult must accompany children 12-and-younger.

Jay boys hoops camp set

Jay County High School has scheduled boys basketball camps for elementary and middle school students.

The camp for seventh and eighth graders will be May 24 through 27 from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. in the JCHS auxiliary gym. The kindergarten though sixth grade camp will be June 17 through 19 from 10 a.m. to noon.

JCHS physicals are June 1

Jay County High School will offer physicals on June 1.

Physicals will be from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at a cost of $15. Forms are available at the JCHS athletics office and must be turned in by May 27.

JCC hosting tee-ball league

Registration is open for Jay Community Center's summer tee-ball and tennis leagues.

The tee-ball league is for children ages 4 through 6, with games beginning June 1 at Portland Memorial Park. There will also be a tee-ball clinic May 25 and 27 from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. at JCC.

The registration fee is $35 for one child, $60 for two and $80 for three or more in the same family.

The tennis league is for players ages 16-and-older and matches will be played on Tuesday evenings from June 15 through July 20. The registration fee is $35, and the deadline is June 11.
