Acquitted
A Portland man accused of being involved in an all-terrain vehicle pursuit was acquitted of a felony charge last week in Jay Superior Court.
Joseph N. Hicks, 24, was facing a charge of resisting law enforcement, a class D felony. He was found not guilty by a jury on May 21.
On April 30, 2007, he allegedly was involved in a pursuit with Jay County police near county roads 200 North and 400 East.
He was arrested May 4, 2007, by Jay County police.
Tommy Brinkerhoff, Laurel, who also was allegedly involved in the pursuit, was facing several charges stemming from the incident. His charges were dismissed in March as part of a plea agreement in another case.
Pleads guilty
A rural Portland man has pleaded guilty to a felony charge.
Donald E. Stipp, 37, pleaded guilty May 22 in Jay Superior Court to driving after being adjudged a habitual traffic offender, a class D felony.
He is set to be sentenced June 12 at 10:30 a.m.
He was arrested April 21, 2007, after he was pulled over by Portland police at Third Street and Blaine Pike, Portland. His driver's license was suspended for 10 years at the time.[[In-content Ad]]
