Seduction sentence
A Portland man has been sentenced to jail time for fondling a 16-year-old girl.
Stephen M. Gladstone, 49, pleaded guilty to child seduction, a class D felony. His guilty plea was accepted April 26 and he was sentenced to 18 months in the Jay County Jail, with all but 90 days suspended. He was ordered to pay $164 in court costs and was placed on probation for 15 months.
Jay County police arrested him on a warrant on July 30. The crime occurred July 23.
Request denied
A rural Portland man’s request to have his conviction reduced has been denied.
Gary D. Brewster, 42, asked for his conviction on charges of theft and obstruction of justice, both class D felonies, to be reduced to class A misdemeanors. His request was denied April 29 in Jay Superior Court.
On Feb. 16, 2009, he stole a document from West Jay Middle School.[[In-content Ad]]
