CITY ACCIDENTS
Vehicles driven by teenagers from Hartford City and Portland collided at the intersection of Meridian and Votaw streets on Wednesday at 7:01 p.m.
Dieter J. Hammerstein, 18, 298 E. South Street, Parker City, told Portland police he was driving east on Votaw Street entering the intersection of Meridian Street, when the traffic signal turned yellow.
Hammerstein told police he turned left and struck a 1985 Chevrolet Cavalier driven by Mark A. Kelly, 18, 606 E. Walnut St., Portland.
Kelly told police he was driving west on Votaw Street across Meridian Street when the collision occurred.
Damage to Hammerstein’s 1995 Saturn car, registered to Chris Hammerstein, 219 N. Hickory St., Farmland, and Kelly’s car, registered to Hugh F. Kelly, same address as driver, was estimated between $2,500 and $5,000.
Two vehicles collided on Tuesday at 2:12 p.m. near the intersection of Arch and Wayne streets.
Richard A. Steiner, 71, 6855 S. Second St., Linn Grove, told Portland police he was driving a 2002 Bobcat skidloader and backed up into a 2002 Ford Taurus driven by Janet K. Walker, 49, 923 W. Arch St.
Steiner told police he didn’t see Walker’s car.
Walker was driving east on Arch Street, near the intersection of Wayne Street, when the collision occurred.
Damage to the Bobcat, registered to LICA Construction Corporation of Berne and Walker’s car also registered to Glen Walker, same address as driver, was estimated at less than $750.
CAR DAMAGED
An unknown vehicle struck a car parked along South Harrison Street, near East Water Street, Wednesday between 7 a.m. and noon in Portland.
One of the owners of the 1984 Mercedes car, registered to Debbie and Steve Howell, 1930 West Ind. 26, Portland, reported the damage to Portland police Wednesday afternoon.
The owner told police an unknown vehicle struck the rear of the causing between $750 and $1,000 in damage.
The car was parked in front of 134 E. Water Street, Portland.
PENNVILLE MEETING
Two meetings to give and receiving information about the economic development income tax and its impact in Pennville will be held Tuesday, May 13.
The meetings at Pennville Town Hall will be held at 9 a.m. and 7 p.m. and are open to the public.

The Geneva Police Department had a busy month in April, Geneva town marshal Rob Johnson said at Tuesday’s town board meeting.
The department issued 15 speeding citations, one expired license plate citation, one citation for disregarding a stop sign, one no operator’s license citation, one leaving the scene of an accident citation, one citation for harboring a non-immunized dog, one driving while license suspended and three two-hour parking citations.
Police also issued 12 speeding warnings, one stop sign violation warning, one warning for illegal display of a blue light and an illegal passing citation.
Geneva officers investigated seven property damage accidents and one personal injury accident.
The department assisted Berne police five times, Adams County Sheriff’s Department four times, Portland police once and the Geneva Fire Department once.
Police also unlocked four vehicles, made three vehicle title checks, received six domestic calls and issued one gun permit.[[In-content Ad]]
