Mildred Wendel
Mildred A. Wendel, 88, Briarwood Manor Nursing Home, Coldwater, a former resident of St. Wendelin, Ohio, died Wednesday afternoon at the nursing home.
She had been a cook in Fort Recovery schools for 12 years.
Mrs. Wendel was a member of the St. Wendelin Catholic Church, the Altar Sodality of the church, Knights of St. John Auxiliary in Maria Stein, Ohio, and Catholic Knights of America at St. Joe, Ohio.
Born Oct. 28, 1915, at St. Henry, Ohio, she was the daughter of Henry and Walburga (Rohrer) Beyke.
She was married in 1934, in Fort Recovery, to Rochus Wendel, who died in 1975.
Surviving are six sons, Robert and David Wendel, both of Fort Recovery, Ronald, Donald, and Ernest Wendel, all of St. Wendelin, and William Wendel, Chickasaw, Ohio; seven daughters, Mrs. Andy (Delores) Schlarman and Mrs. Nick (Marjorie) Meier, both of St. Rose, Ohio, Rita Wynk, Carthagena, Ohio, Mrs. Clete (Rosann) Prenger, Minster, Ohio, Kathleen Wendel, St. Wendelin, Mrs. Dan (Mary) Bruns, Chickasaw, Ohio, and Janet Kuck, New Bremen, Ohio; two brothers, Clete Beyke, Cranberry, Ohio, and Henry Beyke, Franklin, Tenn.; 37 grandchildren; and 41 great-grandchildren.
Mass of Christian burial is set for 10:30 a.m. Saturday in the St. Wendelin Catholic Church with the Rev. Matthew Jozefiak officiating.
Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Friends may call at the Brockman and Boeckman Funeral Home, Fort Recovery, from 2 to 8 p.m. Friday and 9 to 9:45 a.m. Saturday.[[In-content Ad]]
