Mary Bauman
Nov. 25, 1917-Nov. 2, 2011
Mary Ellen Bauman, 93, Geneva, died Wednesday at Swiss Village Retirement Center in Berne.
Born in Geneva to Jesse O. and Mary Elizabeth (Campbell) Callihan, she graduated from Geneva High School in 1936 where she was class valedictorian.
She was preceded in death on Jan. 15, 1981, by her first husband Waldo C. “Rudy” Bauman whom she married on Aug. 14, 1938, in Peru.
She was also preceded in death on Jan. 26, 2000, by her second husband Clarence E. Bauman whom she married in 1990.
Retiring from Berco after several years of service, she was a member of High Street United Methodist Church in Geneva where she taught Sunday School and Adams County Home Economics Club.
Surviving are three sons, Jay Bauman (wife: Janice), North Webster, Deryl Bauman (wife: Joy), Decatur, and Brian “Rudy” Bauman (wife: Kathy), Berne; a daughter, Cheryl Lehmann (husband: DeWayne), Hot Springs, Ark.; six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Services are Saturday at 2 p.m. at Swiss Village Retirement Center with the Rev. James Bontrager and Chaplain Anita Rediger officiating. Burial will be in M.R.E. Cemetery in Berne.
Visitation is Friday from 2 to 6 p.m. at Swiss Village.
Memorials may be sent to Family Hospice and Palliative Care, High St. United Methodist Church or South Adams Senior Center.

Graveside services for Doris Eyer, 65, Greenwood, a former Dunkirk resident, will be Saturday at 1 p.m. at Mt. Tabor Cemetery, Muncie.
Born in Riverside, Calif., to Justin and Lorraine Smith, she is survived by Charles Eyer, her husband of 48 years.
She moved to Indiana in 1969 and had lived in Dunkirk, Hartford City and Muncie.
She had been involved with civil defense and enjoyed talking on citizens band radio where her CB name was “Frosty.”
Surviving besides her husband are two sons, Charles Eyer Jr., Raleigh, N.C., and Jeff Eyer (wife: Cara), Puyallup, Wash; three daughters, Rebecca Hall (husband: Sam), Charlotte, N.C., Michelle Walls, Greenwood, and Margaret Durato (husband: Matthew), Kokomo; her mother, Lorraine Smith, Riverside, Calif.; a brother, Richard Smith (wife: Joanne), Paradise, Calif.; three sisters, Betty Edelman (husband: Richard) and Peggy Smith, both of Arizona, and Eileen Herrick (husband: Bob), Riverside; 12 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Jack Gillespie

A memorial service for Jack Gillespie, 90, 506 S. Wayne St., Portland, will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at Baird-Freeman Funeral Home, Portland, with Pastor Darrell Borders officiating. Burial will be in Gravel Hill Cemetery, Bryant.
Gillespie died Oct. 26 in Murrysville, Pa.
Born in Portland to Frank and Addie (Wickersham) Gillespie, he was preceded in death on May 29, 1987, by his wife Etta Elaine (Lee) Gillespie whom he married in 1945.
A veteran of the United States Army where he fought in the Battle of the Bulge, he retired from Westinghouse in Muncie in 1986 and had worked with his brother at South Side Refrigeration Co.
He was an avid horseshoe pitcher and won many local tournaments.
Surviving is a daughter, Sue Gillespie (husband: Clyde Martz), Murrysville, Pa.; a brother, Larry Gillespie, Leesburg, Fla.; a granddaughter and two great-grandchildren.
Visitation is Saturday from 10:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the funeral home.
Memorials may be sent to the Jay County Heart Fund.

Lavern Rindler

A funeral Mass for Lavern S. Rindler, 86, St. Henry, Ohio, was held today. The brother-in-law of a Fort Recovery woman, he died Monday at The Gardens at St. Henry (Ohio).
Born in Cranberry Prairie, Ohio, to Ferd and Mary (Bohman) Rindler, he was preceded in death on Sept. 30, 2001, by his wife Dolores H. (Huber) Rindler whom he married on Oct. 5, 1948.
Surviving are four sons; three daughters; a sister-in-law, Rita Stammen, Fort Recovery; 25 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
