Stolen from vehicle
Someone entered a Portland resident's vehicle while she was at work.
Goldie Dugger, 217 E. Elder St., told Portland police that someone entered her unlocked 1995 Dodge Dakota while she was working at Circle K, 729 S. Meridian St., Portland. She said 10-15 compact discs, some change and about five OxyContin pills were stolen.
Dugger said the theft occurred between 10 p.m. Wednesday and 1:05 a.m. today.
City collision
Vehicles driven by two Portland teenagers collided Wednesday at 3:30 p.m. near the intersection of Votaw and Ship streets.
Skyler L. Petty, 17, 1205 N. Ben Hawkins St., was driving eastbound on Votaw Street and did not see the GMC Sierra driven by Matthew A. Boyd, 17, 710 W. Arch St., slow in front of him. The 1997 Dodge Neon Petty was driving collided with the rear of Boyd's truck.
Estimated damage to the car registered to Ruby J. Nifong, 831 S. Shank St., Portland, and the truck registered to Richard A. Steward, same address as driver, was estimated between $2,401 and $5,000.
Car strikes tree
A vehicle driven by a rural Portland man went off the road and struck a tree Wednesday at 9 a.m. in Pike Township.
Joseph T. Bihn, 27, 1102 East 400 South, said he was driving eastbound on county road 400 South west of Boundary Pike when his vehicle left the south side of the road and hit a tree. Damage to the 1999 Ford F250 truck, registered to the driver, and the tree was estimated between $1,001 and $2,500.
In area courts
In Celina Municipal Court, Jason C. Seals, 39, Portland, pleaded no contest to fictitious license plates. He was ordered to pay court costs.
In Winchester City Court recently, area residents fined for speeding include: Heidi S. Croyle, Ridgeville, $12 plus costs of $114.50; Matthew J. Kellog, $11 plus costs of $114.50;
In that same court, Trena J. Vore, Redkey, and Melissa K. Martin, Ridgeville, were fined $25 for a sea tbelt violation; Teffney J. Lowe, Redkey, was fined $35.50 for no seat belt and no operator's license and assessed costs of $114.50; David E. Franks, Portland, was fined $75 and assessed costs of $114.50 for unsafe operation.
In Adams Circuit Court recently, Heather M. Lawhorn, 34, Pennville, pleaded guilty to violating the conditions of her probation by not completing the court-ordered Responsible Thinking and Choices program.
Her probation was extended to March 7, 2010, and she was ordered to complete the program. She is on probation for a conviction of driving while intoxicated.[[In-content Ad]]
