Compton featured
INDIANAPOLIS — Jay County High School senior Sammi Compton is featured in one of two IHSAA commercials currently being aired.
Compton is one of six athletes featured in the IHSAA’s “It Takes Two” spot, which promotes the idea that prep sports greatly benefit their communities for a small percentage of a school’s budget. The commercial includes a clip of Compton on a diving board.
Both commercials were written, produced and distributed by Three Sixty Group, the marketing partner of the IHSAA. To watch the commercial, visit http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QEoOmU6NLl8.
Ludy helps lead win
SALISBURY, Md. — Josh Ludy had a run and an RBI Monday as the Lakewood BlueClaws rolled to an 8-0 victory over the host Delmarva Shorebirds.
Ludy, a 2008 Jay County High School graduate, got an RBI in odd fashion in the seventh inning when he struck out swinging but reached base on a passed ball that also allowed Maikel Franco to score. He drew a walk in the ninth inning and later scored on a single to right field by Diego Gonzalez.
The Philadelphia Phillies’ eighth-round draft pick also went 1-for-4 Friday in Lakewood’s 6-0 loss to the West Virginia Power.
For the season, Ludy is hitting .254 with a .329 on-base percentage and nine RBIs, six doubles, four runs and a triple in 19 games.
Dunn on committee
INDIANAPOLIS — Alex Dunn, a Jay County High School senior, will serve on the IHSAA Student Advisory Committee again this year.
The committee of 18 students — nine seniors and nine juniors — from across the state meets four times annually. It is responsible for hosting meetings with students at fall area principals meetings, assisting with IHSAA state championship awards ceremonies, organizing the IHSAA Student Leadership Conference and developing the IHSAA Captain’s Handbook.
School principals nominate students who have attended the IHSAA Student Leadership Conference for the committee. From the nominations, 20 students are invited for interviews and then nine are selected to join the group.[[In-content Ad]]
