Tourney to open Saturday

One Tribe team will open tournament action at Minster. Another will play the Wildcats in their first sectional game.
Fort Recovery High School’s baseball team will play its first game of the Division IV tournament at Minster against New Bremen at 2:30 p.m. Saturday. The FRHS softball team will take the field against Minster in the Division IV tournament at New Bremen at 3 p.m.
The baseball tournament at Minster opens with Marion Local playing New Knoxville at noon Saturday with the Fort Recovery/New Bremen game to follow. The winner from the Fort Recovery/New Bremen game will play second-seeded St. Henry, which is ranked fifth in the state, in the second of two sectional championship games at 7 p.m. May 15.
The softball tournament at Minster will begin with Marion Local playing St. Henry at 1 p.m. Saturday. Fort Recovery and Minster will follow in a sectional championship game, with the winner advancing to the district tournament at Wapakoneta.

Baseball splits
ARCANUM, Ohio — The Fort Recovery baseball team split games with the Arcanum Trojans on Saturday, winning the first half of a doubleheader 7-4 before dropping the second game 5-4.
Chad Schroer had a hit, two RBIs and a run to lead the offense in the opener for the Indians, who scored three times in the first inning and three in the sixth. Jackson Hobbs added a double, a run and an RBI.
Elijah Kahlig earned the victory as he tossed 3 2/3 scoreless innings of relief.
Fort Recovery (12-10) pulled even with two runs in the top of the sixth inning in game two, but Arcanum pushed the game-winning run across the plate in the bottom of the seventh. Shane Pottkotter took the loss, giving up one run on two hits and two walks in 1 2/3 innings.
Kahlig went 1-for-2 with two runs.


Softball drops two
LIMA, Ohio — Fort Recovery’s softball team managed just four hits Saturday as it fell 19-0 and 18-1, both in five innings, to the host Bath Wildcats in a doubleheader.
The Indians (1-13) suffered a no-hit shutout in the opening game while Bath scored 13 times in the third inning. The Wildcats built an 18-0 lead in the second game before Fort Recovery got its only run in the fourth inning.
Ashley Homan took the loss in game one, but 12 of the 19 runs against her were unearned. FRHS gave up seven unearned runs in the second game as Chelsea Timmerman took the defeat.
Maleia Fullenkamp was 2-for-2 in the second game, and Jackie Fullenkamp singled and scored a run. Emily Alig had the lone RBI of the day for the Tribe.

JV baseball loses
CONVOY, Ohio — The Fort Recovery junior varsity baseball team couldn’t slow down the Crestview Knights’ offense Saturday as it dropped both games of a doubleheader, 11-2 and 10-5.
Crestview scored eight times in the sixth inning to pull away in the opener, and tallied five runs in the fifth inning of game two to build a seven-run lead.
Chase Bruns suffered the game-one loss, giving up four runs — three earned — on four hits in 5 1/3 innings. Nick Litmer gave up 10 runs on 11 hits in 4 2/3 innings to take the game-two defeat.
Kyle Schroer was 2-for-3 with a double, two RBIs and a run for the Indians (3-8) in the second game. Ben Will had a hit, a run and an RBI in the opener.[[In-content Ad]]
