EATON, Ohio - Marissa Brunswick led the Fort Recovery High School girls cross country team to a fifth-place finish Saturday at the Eaton Invitational.

The Indians scored 158 points in the 15-team event to finish 11 ahead of Ansonia. The Tribe boys finished with 363 to place 14th out of 18.

Brunswick crossed the finish line in 21 minutes, 20 seconds to take 15th place. Alexis Sutter was 31st in 22:10 with Casey Backs 33rd in 22:20 and Nicole Heitkamp 35th in 22:25.

Abby Huelskamp capped the team score in 56th with a time of 23:37.

Ryan Heitkamp was 52nd in the boys race in 18:47 with Nathan Fullenkamp 61st in 19 minutes flat and Calvin Kaiser 65th in 19:12. Marshal Hull finished 101st in 20:49, and Adam Pohl was 104th in 21:17.

Josh Pohl dominated the middle school boys race, winning by 15 seconds over Covington's Lane White in 11:35.65. Derek Sutter added a ninth-place effort in 12:28 as the team finished 2nd out of seven.

The FRMS girls team was third out of 10 teams with Jessica Vogel placing sixth in 13:31.

Minster tops JV

FORT RECOVERY - The Fort Recovery junior varsity football team slipped to 1-3 Saturday with a 40-6 loss to the Minster Wildcats.

Minster grabbed a 20-0 lead at halftime before the Indians got on the board on a 40-yard TD pass from Shane Brunswick to Derek Gaerke in the third quarter. The Wildcats scored 14 fourth-quarter points for the final margin.

Freshmen win 2

Kelsey Fiely powered the Fort Recovery freshman volleyball team Saturday to wins of 25-13, 25-15 over Mississinawa Valley and 26-24, 25-16 over Fort Loramie.

Fiely racked up 10 points, three kills and two digs against Mississinawa Valley, and added six kills and five digs in the second match. Emily Link and Amy Link each scored 11 points in the opening match, and Chelsea Pottkotter had four kills.

Link added 15 points against Fort Loramie, and Emily Link and Pottkotter each had four assists.[[In-content Ad]]
