COLUMBUS, Ohio — The Indians are second again.
After spending a couple of weeks in the third slot, the Fort Recovery High School jumped back up to No. 2 in the Associated Press Division IV boys basketball poll released Monday.
FRHS (13-1), which debuted second but dropped to No. 3 after its loss to Walnut Ridge at Flyin’ to the Hoop, earned 239 poll points to trail only top-ranked Berlin Hiland (14-0). Jackson Center (9-0) finished third in the voting with 216 points.
Newark Catholic (12-2), which had been ranked second the previous two weeks, dropped to sixth after 62-48 loss to Columbus Academy.
The only Midwest Athletic Conference team other than the Tribe that is ranked in the top 10 is Versailles (12-2) at No. 8 in Division III.

EJ grapplers roll
The East Jay Middle School wrestling team dominated Muncie Northside on Monday, 59-6.
Nine of the 10 victories for the Chiefs came by way of pins from Kaimen Sanders (82), Henry Hemmelgarn (87), Colten Compton (92), Brent Englehardt (102), A.J. Bryan (107), Mitchell Bruggeman (117), Graham Hianes (122), Matt Blackford (137) and Levi Hummel (147). Tyler Leonhard added a victory by technical fall.

Chief girls go 13-4
East Jay’s eighth grade girls basketball team won the Boomer Invitational Saturday before falling 48-43 Monday to the Muncie Northside Titans.
In the Boomer Invitational the Chiefs topped Dennis (Richmond) 40-12 and Connersville 20-13.
Gabby Hart powered EJMS to its tournament championship, scoring 14 points in the win over Connersville. Cheyenne Loy had 12 points against Dennis, and Lyla Muhlenkamp added six.
Hart totaled 23 points and 10 rebounds in Monday’s season-ending loss. Ava Kunkler finished with nine points.

Eagles defeat EJ
West Jay’s sixth grade boys basketball team knocked off host East Jay 24-23 Monday.
Ethan Myers scored 10 points for the host Chiefs as they dropped to 5-3. Grant Keihn had five points.
In the B team game, West Jay picked up a 26 22 victory. Zaaron Lee scored 11 points for EJMS in the defeat.
Stats for WJMS were not available at press time.

Three unbeaten
DUNKIRK — Three teams finished 9-0 to win their divisions in the West Jay Community Center youth basketball league.
Winning in the first grade and younger division was the SDP Manufacturing team of Skyler Bee, Danyelle Bland, Spencer Caldwell, Jackson Edwards, Hayden Hardman, Peyton James, Austyn LeMaster, Mason Staton and Alizabeth Stottler. The champion in the second and third grade division was the Pacesetter Bank squad of Quinn Faulkner, Riley Foster, Seth Foudray, Lyric Garringer, Nadia Hardman, Brayden Hunt, Abbi Kuss, Ashten Kuss and Hannah Littler.
And also finishing undefeated was the fifth through eighth grade Hardesty Moving and Storage championship team of Print Barger, Shelby Caldwell, Serrena McCaffery, Lucian McIntire, Malcolm McIntire, Dawn Minnick, Dustin Minnick, Darrion Teer and Kalib White.
The First Financial Bank squad of Dylan Bowler, Reid Claycomb, Hallie Fields, Isaac Hafner, Ashten Kuss, Chevy Norris and Cole Wendel went 8-1 to win the fourth grade division.[[In-content Ad]]
