Tribe blasts 'Hawks

FORT RECOVERY — The Indians were not about to endure consecutive losses for the second time in a week.
Fort Recovery High School’s girls basketball team pulled away late in the first half and dominated the second Saturday for a 69-37 victory over the Mississinawa Valley Blackhawks.
The Indians (13-5) were up by just five with 2:03 left in the opening half when they pulled away. A Caley Schoenherr hoop started a 7-0 run, and Fort Recovery went on to outscore the Blackhawks 40-18 in the second half.
Tori Lennartz hit four 3-poitners and paced the Tribe with 26 points. Kelsey Fiely added 14 points, six rebounds, and four steals, and Chelsea Pottkotter had nine points and 12 boards.
Maddie Murphy paced Mississinawa Valley with 11 points.
FRHS won the junior varsity game 50-15 with Kelsey Evers scoring 15 poins and Haley Knapke adding 12.

Three swimmers win
COLDWATER, Ohio — Marshall Hull won two events and Andy Gray and Cori Stone added one victory apiece Saturday for the Fort Recovery swim teams at the Coldwater Invitational.
The Indian boys scored 85 points to finish second in the six-team field behind champion Versailles (199). The girls totaled 53 points for third place.
Hull dominated both of his events, winning the 100-yard backstroke by more than five seconds in 1 minute, 0.47 seconds, and the 100 butterfly in 59.94. Gray gave the Tribe boys a third win in the 50 freestyle in 24.06, and was also fourth in the 100 breaststroke.
Stone powered the girls team as she posted a time of 5:47 to win the 500 freestyle by more than 30 seconds. She was also third in the 200 individual medley in 2:24.41.
Lane Hull was third in the boys individual medley and fourth in the 500 freestyle.

Freshmen fall
RUSSIA, Ohio — Fort Recovery’s freshman boys basketball team gave up 22 points in the opening quarter Saturday and was unable to recover in a 45-31 loss to the Russia Raiders.
Darien Sheffer had team highs of eight points and six rebounds for the Indians (6-2), who trailed 22-8 after the first quarter. They held Russia to three points in the second quarter to get within 10 points at halftime, but could not continue the comeback in the second half.
Jackson Hobbs followed Sheffer with six points, and Chase Bruns, Tanner Koch and Wes Wenning added four apiece.
