Tribe girls finish sixth (09/06/05)

GREENVILLE, Ohio — Fort Recovery’s girls cross country team placed sixth Saturday at the Kiwanis Treaty City Invitational.

The Tribe girls scored 208 points, 12 behind fifth-place Marion Local. Versailles finished first with 33 points.

Fort Recovery’s boys team placed 18th out of 23 teams, scoring 519 points. Cincinnati Wyoming topped the charts with 76 points.

Mindy Vogel paced the Indian girls team, edging teammate Tina Roessner. Vogel finished 24th in 21-minutes, 32 seconds, and Roessner was 25th with a time of 21:33.

Sandra Sudhoff was next for the Tribe, placing 39th in 22:15. Sam Bihn took 41st in 22:18, and Lidnsay Sufhoff finished in 24:05 for 79th.

Mitch Fullenkamp led Fort Recovery’s boys for the third time in three meets this year, running 40th in 18:28. Jim Roessner was 63rd in 18:56.

They were followed by Tyler Huelskamp in 136th (22:43), Matt Heinrichs in 139th (23:19) and Joel Bey in 141st (26:54).

Fort JV to 2-0

FORT RECOVERY — Two weeks have brought two wins for the Fort Recovery junior varsity football team.

The Indians improved to 2-0 Saturday, knocking off the Parkway Panthers 14-6. They defeated Ansonia 6-0 last week.

Alex Gehle gave the Tribe all the points it would need when he scored on a 2-yard run in the first quarter. Parkway answered with a touchdown in the third quarter, but missed the extra point to trail 7-6.

Bobby Rammel and Eric Lamm provided the other Fort Recovery score, hooking up on a 25-yard touchdown pass in the fourth quarter.

Tribe in the middle

GREENVILLE, Ohio — Fort Recovery’s junior high girls cross country team was 13th out of 26 teams at Saturday’s Greenville Invitational with 397 points. Northwestern placed first with 69.

Fort Recovery did not have enough junior high boys runners to post a team score.

The junior high girls team was led by Amber Heitkamp, who finished in 14:05 to take 38th place. Abby Heulskamp was next in 68th in 14:34.

Claire Wendel followed in 73rd with a time of 14:52, Alexis Sutter was 92nd in 15:24 and Kelly Wendel placed 126th in 16:14.

Caleb Hummel was the top runner for the Indians in the junior high boys race where he was 119th in 13:34. He was followed by Ryan Heitkamp (147th in 14:02), Alan Vogel (198th in 14:48) and Colton Metzger (287th in 19:14).[[In-content Ad]]
