Tribe golfers top NK (09/01/06)

Fort Recovery roundup

CELINA, Ohio - Fort Recovery's boys golf team rode home with a victory, but just barely.

On a day short on pars for both teams, Indians eked out a 181-182 victory over the New Knoxville Rangers at Northmoor Golf Club Thursday.

Aaron Kahlig opened with back-to-back pars and shared match-medalist honors with New Knoxville's Mike Wood with a 42. The Tribe had just eight pars on the day while the Rangers finished with seven to go along with three birdies.

Fort Recovery went without a birdie, but won thanks to steady rounds from Dustin Grieshop (45) and Brandon Steinbrunner (46). Scott Hein and Kevin Schoenherr each scored 48, and David Schmitt had a 51.

FR splits with Panthers

ROCKFORD, Ohio - Shane Brunswick and Craig Kaiser connected twice to salvage a split for the Fort Recovery junior high football teams.

Brunswick and Kaiser led the eighth grade squad to a 20-6 victory over the Parkway Panthers. The seventh graders lost to Parkway, 12-0.

The scoring opened in the second quarter when Brunswick and Kaiser hooked up for a 42-yard touchdown pass. Kaiser also ran in for the two-point conversion.

Brunswick found Kaiser again in the fourth quarter, this time for a 12-yard scoring strike. Adam Rohrer added a 25-yard interception return for a touchdown.[[In-content Ad]]
