In the sectional pairings released Sunday, the Fort Recovery High School boys basketball team was named the No. 1 seed in its sectional and took an opening-round bye.
The Indians (14-3) will open the postseason in the sectional championship game at 8 p.m. Feb. 28 at Coldwater in the lower bracket. They will play the winner of the Feb. 25 game between No. 6 seed Minster and No. 3 seed Marion Local.
In the Coldwater upper bracket, No. 4 New Bremen will square off against No. 5 New Knoxville at 6:15 on Feb. 25, with the winner advancing to play No. 2 seed Spencerville at 6:15 on Feb. 28.
The winner of each bracket will move on to the district semifinals, set for March 4 at Wapakoneta. The district championship will be played at 7 p.m. on March 7.

Rally falls short
CLAYTON, Ohio — Hoping to stretch its winning streak to 11, the Fort Recovery boys basketball rallied but fell short Saturday, losing to Northmont 53-44.
The Indians scored 23 points in the fourth quarter — two more than their total from the previous three quarters combined — but could not overcome the 17-point deficit entering the final frame.
The loss was just the third of the season for Fort Recovery (14-3), which saw its double-digit win streak come to an end.
Elijah Kahlig was the lone Tribe player to reach double figures, dropping a game-high 17 points. He also had five rebounds.
Wes Wenning and Kyle Schroer both scored eight points for the Indians, and Derek Backs and Darien Sheffer each had four. Wenning and Sheffer shared the team high in rebounds with seven apiece.
The Fort Recovery junior varsity team also fell to Northmont, 61-28. Chase Bruns, Caleb Martin and Kyle Knapke each had seven points to lead the Tribe.

Patriots top Tribe
NEW MADISON, Ohio — The Indians and Patriots were even for three quarters.
It was the second quarter that was the difference.
Fort Recovery turned the ball over five times in the second quarter and Tri-Village scored 24 points in the frame on the way to topping the Indians 60-42.
The Patriots broke through the Tribe defense, going on a 19-6 over the first six minutes of the second quarter to take a 29-10 lead, and extended the advantage to 14 points, 34-20, entering halftime.
Fort Recovery trailed by double figures for the remainder of the game, as the two teams traded point for point in the second half.
Kendra Siefring and Tori Lennartz both scored 14 points to lead the Indians, and Sierra Pugh chipped in nine. Caley Schoenherr and Lennartz both grabbed a team-high six rebounds.
Raya Mikesell led the Patriots with 17 points.
The Tri-Village junior varsity team scored 19 points in the fourth quarter to rally past Fort Recovery 45-38. Despite shooting just 21 percent in the second half, the Indians took a two-point lead, 28-26, into the final quarter before the Patriots started their rally.
Whitney Will and Kirsten Jutte led the Indians with 11 points each, and Will grabbed a game-high 12 rebounds to complete the double-double.
Rachel Miller of Tri-Village had a game-high 13 points.

Tribe falls
ST. HENRY, Ohio — The Fort Recovery Middle School eighth grade boys basketball team lost Saturday to Marion Local, 46-28, in the Midwest Athletic Conference tournament at St. Henry.
 Cade Wendel led the Indians with 13 points, and Ethan Schoen added seven points. Ryan Braun also scored six points for Fort Recovery.

Thien leads in loss
ROCKFORD, Ohio — Grace Thien scored nine points and Sydney Dues added seven as the Fort Recovery eighth grade girls basketball team fell to Coldwater, 31-27, in the MAC tournament at Parkway.
Carley Stone had six points for the Indians.[[In-content Ad]]
