Tribe runners sixth at Fort Loramie

FORT LORAMIE, Ohio - The Fort Recovery High School girls cross country team held tough in the middle of the pack Tuesday despite missing their top runner.
The Indians, minus Marissa Brunswick, placed sixth out of 11 teams with 163 points at the Fort Loramie Invitational. The Tribe boys scored 293 points to finish 11th out of 15 teams.
Abby May set the pace for the FRHS girls in 19th place with a time of 21 minutes, 55 seconds. Casey Backs was 31st in 22:26 followed by Nicole Heitkamp (38th - 23:06), Alexis Sutter (42nd - 23:22) and Abby Huelskamp (47th - 23:41).
Ryan Heitkamp's 28th-place finish in 18:43 led the Fort Recovery boys team. Nathan Fullenkamp and Calvin Kaiser were 50th and 51st in 19:36 and 19:37 respectively ahead of Marshal Hull (106th - 21:40) and Adam Pohl (126th - 22:42).
Josh Pohl won the junior high boys race by 15 seconds in 11:25 as the Tribe placed sixth out of 10 teams. Jessica Vogel was eighth in 13:44 in the middle school girls race as FRHS finished sixth out of eight teams.
Freshman spikers fall
Fort Recovery's freshman volleyball team fought off the Celina Bulldogs Tuesday for a 26-24, 25-21 victory.
Emily Link totaled eight points, seven assists and four digs to lead the win. Chelsea Pottkotter had six points and five kills, and Kelsey Fiely finished with nine digs.
Parkway tops MS
The Tribe's eighth grade volleyball team lost 25-16, 25-15 Tuesday to Parkway while the seventh graders suffered a 25-8, 25-16 defeat.
Lexi Schmitz had four points, two kills and a block for the eighth grade Indians (0-5). Hannah Kaup scored five points, and Morgan Dues added two assists.
Cassidy Rammel led the FRMS seventh grade team (1-4) with four points and a kill. Tori Lennartz had three points and two blocks.[[In-content Ad]]
