Trick or treat for food bank (10/30/2008)

Trick or treaters have a chance to help the community on Friday by bringing a food item to the wagon located at the Community Resource Center, 118 S. Meridian St. in Portland from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. The food will benefit the Helping Hand Food Bank in Portland.

A treat will be given to donors. For more information or to make donations, call Trey Dunn at (260) 726-7999.

Light a light

The Jay County Hospital Auxiliary will have its 15th Annual Celebration of Lights on Wednesday, Nov. 12, at 7 p.m.

Lights can be purchased in honor or memory of someone, as a thank-you, get well, birthday, anniversary, wedding or birthday. The cost is $5 for a light, $100 for a strand of lights or $300 for a tree of lights.

Orders forms are available at Jay County Hospital.

Shrine meeting

The Jay County Shrine Club will host an informational program on the Shrines Burns Institute in Cincinnati next month.

Donald P. Shively, a member of the board of governors from Angola, will present the program to Jay County first responders and others interested in the burns institute at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 18, in the conference room at Jay County Hospital.
