Trivia contest set
Taking Note
A trivia contest for adults and teens will be held today at 6 p.m. in the Community Room at Jay County Public Library. Refreshments will be served.
Also an after school special for children in kindergarten through fifth grade will be Friday from 2:45 to 4 p.m. at the library. There will be stories shared, snacks and crafts with the theme “giving thanks.” To register, call the library at (260) 726-7890.
Open house
Fort Recovery Merchants’ Christmas Open House will be held Saturday from 3 to 8 p.m. in Fort Recovery.
Fort Recovery Public Library will have crafts and a story hour for children, sponsored by the Fort Pioneers 4-H Club. A book fair will also be hosted by Friends of Fort Recovery Library the week of Nov. 7 to 12th during regular library hours.
The Friends of the Library will have its seventh annual Fort Festival of Trees Dec. 5 to the 31st. Families, clubs and businesses interested in decorating a tree should call the library at (419) 375-2869 or Mindy Bubp at (419) 375-0124 by Nov. 22.
Directors needed
Jay County Civic Theatre, Inc., is in need of directors for the 2011-2012 season. Upcoming plays are Arsenic & Old Lace in February and El Phantismo in April and May.
Letters of inquiry and theatrical resumes may be sent to JCCT, Inc., P.O. Box 121, Portland, IN 47371, by Nov. 30.

The public is invited to the Community Thanksgiving Dinner on Thursday, Nov. 24, at 1 p.m. at Asbury United Methodist Church, 204 E. Arch St. in Portland.
The dinner is free, but a dish may be brought if desired.
To make donations, call Carol Smith at (260) 726-9049 (after 6 p.m.) or Ralph and Thelma Myers at (260) 726-2604.
Anyone wanting a meal delivered may call the church at (260) 726-8464 or Zion Church at (260) 726-8832 (mornings only.)
