CAR OVERTURNS
A car driven by a Redkey woman overturned after she went off of the road in Jefferson Township on Monday at 3:25 p.m.
Brenda Johnson, 42, 308 E. Delaware St., was arrested by Jay County police for driving while intoxicated after the 1993 Ford Taurus she was driving went off of Mt. Pleasant Road, about 600 feet south of county road 450 South. The vehicle came to rest on its top south and east of the road.
According to the police report, Johnson’s blood alcohol content was measured at .22 percent. Damage to her car was estimated between $2,500 and $5,000.
COUNTY ACCIDENT
A car driven by a rural Portland woman was struck by an unknown car while she was delivering mail on Monday at approximately 11 a.m. in Noble Township.
Pamela F. Morehous, 58, 2337 East 300 South, was stopped at a mailbox eastbound on Division Road, about 500 feet west of county road 500 East, when her 1998 car was struck by a small red car. The car’s driver continued east on Division Road and didn’t stop after the collision, Morehous told Jay County police.
Damage to Morehous’s car was estimated between $2,500 and $5,000.
THEFT
A rural Portland woman reported Monday to Jay County police that approximately $300 in crafts were stolen from a craft shop behind her home.
Sharon Pyle, 1489 North U.S. 27, told police that the items were stolen sometime between Dec. 14 and Monday.
GENEVA ACCIDENT
A car driven by a Geneva teenager overturned in rural Adams County on Thursday.
Clara E. Keen, 16, was transported by Adams County Emergency Medical Service for abdominal pain following the 3:15 p.m. accident.
She was driving south on county road 150 West near county road 850 South in Adams County when she lost control of her car.
The car went off of the road into a ditch, struck a culvert and overturned onto its top. Keen told police that she couldn’t remember the accident.
Geneva Fire Department also responded to the scene.
Damage to her car was estimated between $2,500 and $5,000.
BLACKFORD ACCIDENT
A Portland woman was involved in a Dec. 13 accident in Blackford County near Montpelier.
Lorena Peace, 21, told Blackford County police she was driving west on Ind. 18, east of River Road when the tire on the driver’s side of her car came off, causing the vehicle to travel off the roadway.
Her vehicle struck a wooden fence, a glass lawn ornament, and a wood swing.[[In-content Ad]]
