INJURIES REPORTED

A Dunkirk teenager complained of chest pain following a one-vehicle accident Monday at 7:45 a.m. in Jefferson Township.

Bryon P. O’Conner, 16, 387 Lincoln Avenue, was transported by Jay Emergency Medical Service. He was driving east on county road 400 South, about 1,200 feet west of county road 700 West, when he lost control on the ice covered road. The 1996 Ford Ranger he was driving went off of the north side of the road and into a ditch.

Damage to the truck, registered to Stephen and Janice O’Conner, same address as driver, was estimated between $1,000 and $2,500.

COUNTY ACCIDENT

A car driven by a Portland man struck a utility pole in Wayne Township Monday at 11:45 a.m.

Gary L. Brown, 61, 1616 N. Meridian St., was driving east on county road 100 North, about 1,200 feet west of county road 100 West, when he lost control of his 1997 Buick Skylark and went off of the north side of the road and struck a utility pole. Damage to Brown’s car was estimated between $5,000 and $10,000.

FIRE RUN

The Portland Fire Department was dispatched to Doane Pet Care Monday at 12:40 p.m.

Dispatchers said there was a fire in an oven at the plant, located at 218 E. Lincoln St., but told firefighters three minutes later that the fire was out.
