CAR DAMAGED
Damage to a Pennville man’s car was reported to Portland police on Monday.
Ralph Frazee, 440 N. Meridian St., told police that someone scratched his 2003 Oldsmobile car while it was parked on Court Street in Portland between 2:30 and 4 p.m.
The damage was on the driver’s side of the car.
The estimated damage was not included in a report by Portland police.
HORSE RESCUED
Rural Geneva residents and Geneva firefighters worked together on Thursday afternoon to rescue a horse stuck in an ice-covered flooded field about a mile east of Geneva on county road 1100 South (formerly Ind. 116).
Geneva firefighter Curt Chaffins said the horse was not injured. He added that no one knew how long the horse was in the water before someone driving by reported the animal had fallen through the ice and was stranded.
Chaffins said that members of the Amish community assisted firefighters by wading into the water and hooking a strap around the torso of the horse. The strap was attached to the town’s fire truck and used to pull the horse to safety.[[In-content Ad]]
