Rachel Brackman
March 21, 1987-June 30, 2008
A funeral Mass for Rachel M. Brackman, 21, 1679 Philothea Road, Fort Recovery, is Friday at 10:30 a.m. at Mary Help of Christians Catholic Church in Fort Recovery with the Rev. Charles Mullen officiating. She died early Monday from injuries sustained in an auto accident in Mercer County, Ohio, on Sunday.
Born in Coldwater, Ohio, she was the daughter of Jerry Brackman and Deb (Liette) and Dave Homan, all of Fort Recovery.
A 2005 graduate of Fort Recovery High School, she was one of the valedictorians of her class and played volleyball, softball, basketball and was Homecoming Queen.
She attended St. Peter Catholic Church in St. Peter, Ohio, and was active in the CYO program where she played basketball.
A student at The Ohio State University in Columbus, she was planning to attend Edison State Community College in Piqua, Ohio, this fall to major in nursing.
Surviving besides her parents are two sisters, Brittany Brackman and Alyssa Brackman, both of Fort Recovery; a brother, Austin Brackman, Fort Recovery; grandparents, Ivo and Norma Brackman, Fort Recovery, Mary Liette, Burkettsville, Ohio, and stepgrandparents, Donald and Rosemary Homan, Burkettsville.
Visitation is Thursday from 2 to 8 p.m. and Friday from 9 to 10 a.m. at Brockman and Boeckman Funeral Home in Fort Recovery. Burial will be in St. Peter Cemetery, in St. Peter.
Memorials may be sent to the Rachel Brackman Memorial Fund in care of the Fort Recovery Community Foundation.
Emma Thatcher
Jan. 10, 1932-June 23, 2008
Services were held Thursday for Emma Jean Thatcher, 76, Elgin, Ohio. The sister of a Geneva man, she died June 23 at Saint Rita's Medical Center in Lima, Ohio.
Born in Adams County to John Lewis and Nellie Edith (Click) Switzer, she was married on July 2, 1952, to Stanley E. Thatcher, who preceded her in death on Feb. 27, 1999.
Survivors include a daughter; three sons; a brother, Robert Switzer, Geneva; a sister; 11 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
The Thomas E. Bayliff Funeral Home in Spencerville, Ohio, was in charge of the arrangements. Burial was in Goodwin Cemetery, near Elgin, Ohio.
Caroline Girod
June 24, 2008-June 24, 2008
Services were held Wednesday at the Girod home in Berne for Caroline J. Girod. She was stillborn on June 24 at Van Wert Hospital in Ohio.
She was a member of the Old Order Amish.
Survivors include her parents Jacob E.R. and Lucy (Schwartz) Girod, Berne; three brothers, Reuben J., Michael J. and Walter J. Girod, all at home; three sisters, Rachel J., Martha J. and Lucinda J. Girod, all at home; grandparents, Reuben and Emma Girod and Reuben and Ada Schwartz, all of Berne; great-grandparents, Emma Girod and Elma Wickey, both of Berne, Berne, and Dan M.J. and Maryann Schwartz, Geneva.
Burial was at Bunker Hill Cemetery in Geneva.
