Obituaries

LeAnna Cameron

LeAnna E. Cameron, the four-month-old daughter of Kyle L. and Katie (Kimberlin) Cameron, Geneva, died Friday in Berne.

She was born on Jan. 24.

Surviving in addition to her parents are a brother, Tristyn, Geneva; grandparents, Nancy Hower, Geneva, Vickie Cameron and Jerry Wakefield, both of Berne, Fred Cameron, Hartford City; great-grandparents, Lorreta Wilson, Hartford City, Deanna Haynes, Berne, Lynette Pegg, Lynn; a great-great-grandmother, Nedra Richardson, Lynn; and several uncles and aunts.

Services are Wednesday at 10 a.m. at Yager-Kirchhofer Funeral Home in Berne with the Rev. James Schwartz officiating. Burial will be in MRE Cemetery.

Visitation is Wednesday from 9 to 10 a.m. at the funeral home.

Memorials may be sent to the family.

Delcie Bassett

Services were held Monday in Jonesboro, Ark., for Delcie Gearldine Bassett, 92. The mother of a Portland woman, she died Friday at St. Elizabeth Place in Jonesboro.

Born in Half Moon, Ark., to Walter David and Grace (Brooks) Vastbinder, her husband Albert Bassett preceded her in death.

Surviving are three sons; four daughters, including Linda Peters, Portland; a sister; a half-sister; 21 grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren; eight great-great-grandchildren; seven stepgrandchildren and three stepgreat-grandchildren.

Howard Funeral Service of Manila was in charge of the arrangements.

Anna Ergle

Services were held today in Redkey for Anna L. Ergle, 75, Yorktown. A Dunkirk native, she died Friday at the Waters of Yorktown.

Born on Sept. 15, 1932, in Dunkirk, to William and Hilda Oliver, she was a caregiver at Muncie Health Care.

Survivors include her husband, A.L. Ergle; a daughter, Lucinda Keele, Gaston; two grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren and an aunt.

Burial will be in Gardens of Memory, Muncie.

MJS Mortuaries-Redkey Chapel was in charge of the arrangements.

David Nevil

David Nevil, 48, Decatur, died early today at his home. Arrangements are pending at Downing and Glancy Funeral Home in Geneva.

John Carson

John F. Carson, 88, Carthage, the father of a Redkey woman, died Sunday at Miller's Merry Manor, Rushville.

Born on May 11, 1920, in Liberty, to Frank L. and Mattie (Scholl) Carson, he was first married on April 23, 1944, to Marjorie Burton, who died in December of 1997.

Survivors include his wife Phyllis Selm Lafuse Carson, whom he married on Nov. 17, 2001; two sons; two daughters, including Mrs. John (Denise) Janak, Redkey; five stepchildren; two sisters; 14 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Services are Thursday at 2 p.m. at Showalter Blackwell Long Funeral Home, Fosdick Chapel, in Liberty with the Rev. Dawn Gold officiating.

Visitation is Wednesday from 4 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Memorials may be sent to St. Paul United Methodist Church Mission.

Barbara Harshman

Barbara Ann Harshman, 37, Albany, the mother of a Dunkirk woman, died Friday at Ball Memorial Hospital from an acute respiratory illness.

Born on March 13, 1971, in Muncie, to Linda (Bowles) Fannin and Steven Eppard, she was married on July 30, 1999, to Timothy Harshman who survives.

Others surviving are two daughters, including Kara Harshman, Dunkirk; a son; her mother, Muncie; her father; two brothers; a sister; her in-laws; grandparents and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Services are Wednesday at 1 p.m. at Garden View Funeral Home in Muncie with Pastor Les Turner officiating. Burial will be in Gardens of Memory, Muncie.

Visitation is today from 4 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to the family with envelopes available at the funeral home.

Jay Maddy

Jay C. "Bub" Maddy, 41, Eaton, died unexpectedly on Saturday at Ball Memorial Hospital. He had worked in Dunkirk.

Born on Dec. 8, 1966, in Marion, to Jerry Maddy Sr. and Ann Robinson Whelchel, he had worked at Indiana Glass in Dunkirk for eight years.

Survivors include his wife Traci (Withers) Maddy; two sons; his mother; his father and stepmother; three sisters; two brothers; his in-laws; and several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.

Services are Friday at noon at Delta High School, 3400 E. Ind. 28, Muncie.

Visitation is Thursday from 1 to 8 p.m. at Eaton Elementary School, 200 N.E. Union St., Eaton.

Memorials may be sent to his family at 420 S. Ft. Wayne Ave., No. 76B, Eaton, IN 47338.
