Tyson donates to relief efforts

Tyson Foods Inc., the parent company of Tyson Foods, recently announced that it has pledged to contribute to the American Red Cross’ relief and recovery efforts for recent storm damage on the east coast.
A corporate match of up to $100,000 of employee donations will go to support victims of the storm.
The company will also dispatch its mobile feeding unit – a 53-foot semitrailer that comes equipped with full refrigeration, a generator, and other necessary cooking supplies –— and volunteer cook teams to New Jersey today. Teams from Tyson’s corporate headquarters, the company’s transportation groups, and a processing plant in Shelbyville, Tenn., will cook meals for first responders and victims of Sandy as part of a partnership with the Red Cross. Tyson has agreed to furnish the food for the meals.

Hospice hires
State of the Heart Hospice, 1237 W. Ind. 67, Portland, recently hired Megan Page, Portland, as an LPN at the non-profit agency’s Portland office.
Page has been an LPN since 2005 and has worked in nursing homes, doctors’ offices and in home health care.
State of the Heart Hospice cares for patients and families who are confronting a life limiting illness.

First Merchants releases results

First Merchants Corp., the holding company of First Merchants Bank, recently reported its third quarter earnings.
First Merchants reported a third quarter net income of $10.1 million or $.35 per share. Year-to-date earnings per share totaled $1.09.
It reported its year-to-date net income available to common shareholders totaled $31.4 million.
First Merchants Bank has branches at 112 W. Main St. and 218 Lincoln Avenue in Portland.

Old National releases results
Old National Bancorp, the holding company of Old National Bank, announced its third quarter results.
Old National reported a third quarter net income of $19.7 million or $.20 per share. Its board of directors also declared a common stock dividend of $.09 per share on the company’s outstanding shares. This dividend is payable Dec. 17 to shareholders of record on Dec. 3.
