VanSkyock gets state honor (02/21/04)

Jay County’s Nicole VanSkyock picked up another honor recently.

VanSkyock was named Academic All-State by the Indiana Association of Track and Cross Country Coaches.

The senior was a top runner for the Jay County cross country team all season. The Patriots finished with Olympic Athletic Conference and sectional championships, and advanced to the semi-state round.

VanSkyock was third in the OAC in 16:46, fourth at the Bellmont sectional in 16:18, 12th at the Bellmont regional in 15:50 and 42nd at the New Haven semi-state in 15:57.

She plans to continue her cross country career next year at Anderson University.

Little League

Registration for the Ridgeville Lions Little League will take place during the next several weeks.

Players can sign up for the upcoming season at the Ridgeville Fire Department Saturday, Feb. 28 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

There will also be registration sessions Wednesday, March 3 from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. and Saturday, March 6 from 1 to 5 p.m.
