Ventriloquist to perform (06/28/08)
Taking Note
The Jay County Public Library will have singer/ventriloquist Marc Thomas and his puppet Max the Moose entertain on Monday at 11 a.m.
The event is part of the summer reading program "Catch the Reading Bug" and is for children of all ages.
On Wednesday at 1 p.m. members of the Jay County Civic Theatre will read and perform "A Midsummer Night's Dream" for children ages seven to 14.
Entries in the Create-A-Bug contest will be on display Monday through July 12 with People's Choice voting taking place at this time. Winners will be announced on Saturday, July 19, at the pool party.
Arts in the Parks
Arts Place is looking for students to participate in Arts in the Parks classes in Dunkirk. Classes will be held Monday through Thursday at West Jay Community Center.
Class brochures are available at Arts Place, 131 E. Walnut St. in Portland or at www.artsland.org.

Aerobics
The Fort Recovery Ambassador Pool is offering water aerobics classes. The first session is July 7 through Aug. 1. Classes will be held Monday, Tuesday and Friday from noon to 1 p.m. and Monday, Wednesday and Thursday from 9 to 10 p.m.
The cost is $30 or $3 per class.
Another sessionss will be held Aug. 4 through Aug, 18.
Classes held Aug. 19 through Aug. 29 will be from 8 to 9 p.m. and the cost is $25.

These students made the dean's list for the spring quarter at Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology in Terre Haute.
Adam Ford, a senior majoring in mechanical engineering. He is the son of Terri and F. Dwane Ford, Portland.
