Verallia making yogurt jars

Verallia North America, which operates a plant at 524 E. Center St., Dunkirk, recently announced the introduction of 4- and 6-ounce single-serving glass yogurt jars.
The company hopes its glass jars will provide an eco-minded alternative to the standard plastic packaging of single serving yogurt containers.

Hospice hires
State of the Heart Hospice, 1237 W. Ind. 67, Portland, recently hired Jennifer Aker of Portland as an LPN. The non-profit agency also hired Candace Rust of Union City as an LPN for its Greenville office, 1350 N, Broadway St., Greenville, Ohio.
Aker has been a CNA for five years and an LPN for three years. Rust has been an LPN for the past five years.
State of the Heart Hospice cares for patients and families who are confronting a life limiting illness.

Mercer Health receives award
Mercer Health was recently awarded “Most Innovative Use” by SCI Solutions at its annual Client Summit in Georgia.
The award was given for innovations in access management, including streamlined patient processing with medical necessity checking and insurance verification.
“We are very proud of how we have been able to increase our patient satisfaction with the help of the SCI tool set,” George Boyles, chief financial officer for Mercer Health, said in a prepared statement.

Surgeon closes practice
Dr. Richard Spady announced Tuesday that he will be closing his general surgery practice in Decatur effective Dec. 31.
Spady has been affiliated with the Adams Memorial Hospital in Adams County since July of 1996. His practice, located in the Physician’s Office Building, 815 High St., Decatur, has been totally devoted to general surgery during that time
Spady will be working in conjunction with the hospital to provide patients with options for continuing their care. Patients may pick up copies of their medical records at Spady’s office through Dec. 31.
