Versailles defeats the Indians

VERSAILLES, Ohio - A pair of big early innings doomed the Fort Recovery High School baseball team Friday in a 12-2 loss to the Versailles Tigers.
Cody Fiely was responsible for both Tribe runners, hitting a two-run homer with Gabe Riegle on base in the top of the fifth inning. Jason Pottkotter and Shane Pottkotter added two singles apiece.
Hayden Pottkotter suffered the loss as he gave up 11 runs on nine hits and four walks in two innings.
JV softball stumbles
ROCKFORD, Ohio - Fort Recovery's junior varsity softball team fell behind 4-0 Friday on the way to a 6-2 loss to the host Parkway Panthers.
Becca Tobe took the defeat, giving up six runs - five earned - on nine hits and five walks. She struck out four batters.
Jasmine Bechtol finished 2-for-4 with a run to pace the Indians' offense. Brittany Sudhoff had a single and a double, and Kendra Stammen doubled and scored a run.
Tribe MS teams 2nd
FORT RECOVERY - The Fort Recovery Middle School track teams each finished second as hosts of a four-team meet Friday.
David Trobridge and Bobby Mattraw each won two events for the boys team, which scored 66 points to finish behind Russia (92). The girls got two wins from Alex Shelton in a 52.5-point effort as they also placed behind Russia (111.5).
Mattraw swept the throwing events, leading a sweep of the shot put ahead of Nick Rammel and Isaac Keller at 37 feet, 3 inches and winning the discus with a toss of 121 feet, 7 inches. Trobridge posted winning times of 26.7 seconds and 1 minute, 1.5 seconds in the 200 and 400 dash respectively.
Shelton handled the sprints for the Tribe girls, taking the 100 dash in 13.3 and the 200 dash in 29 seconds flat.
Jessica Vogel picked up the only other win for the girls team in the 800 run in 2:47.8.
Cole Hull was first for the FRMS boys in the long jump by nearly a foot with a leap of 13 feet, 7 inches.[[In-content Ad]]
