Volunteers crucial for blood drives (7/25/03)
Taking Note
Many people volunteer for the American Cross Blood Drives held at various times throughout the year. Those volunteering their time and resources at the drive held Friday, July 18, at Asbury United Methodist Church were as follows: The Jay County Sheriff’s Department, Nilah Flesher, Imogene Landon, Martha Burk, Shirley Herrin, Janet Green, Judy Williamson, Merylin Strohl, Velma Rook, Luella Laux, Anna Wolford, Wilma Shepherd, Betty Lyons, Wanetta Shreeve, Jo Takats, Frances Duke, Sara Rhodehamel, Dick Manor, Pike Farmettes Home Ec. Club, Jo Duke, Terry Myers, the Rev. Joe Hines, Betty Sue Manor, McDonald’s, Pizza Hut, Hunt’s Emporium, Pennville American Legion Auxiliary No. 482, Jay County Hospital Auxiliary, Altar Rosary Sodality and the Loyal Order of the Moose.
LUAU
The Jay County Public Library will host a Lethal Luau on Tuesday, Aug. 5, at 7 p.m.
The program is a murder mystery for adults and requires adult participation. Space is limited and reservations are required. Call the library at (260) 726-7890 to register.
BIRTHDAY BASH
Members of the Delta Theta Tau Sorority celebrated its 100th birthday at the Sheraton Hotel in Indianapolis recently.
Members attending from the Zeta Alpha Chapter, Redkey, in attendance were: Jackie McCollum, Carol Bantz, Robin Cotherman, Laura Ferrell, Cathy Fugiett, LuAnn Fugiett, Sharon Hammers, Jenny Johnson, Bobbi Louck, Mary Miller, Lois Nauman, Julie Grant, Kathy Nelson and Denise Selvey.
The sorority was founded in Muncie by five high school girls and has 122 chapters in 15 states.
SCHOLARSHIP
Amy B. Phelps, Portland, has been awarded a $1,000 scholarship from the Coca Cola Scholars Foundation. Phelps is a student at Ivy Tech State College, Muncie.
DEAN’S LIST
Brennan Bubp, son of former Portland resident Stephen Bubp and the grandson of Mrs. LaDoyt (Agnes) Bubp, Portland, was recently named to the spring semester dean’s list at the University of Florida, College of Agriculutral and Life Sciences.[[In-content Ad]]
