W-D blanks Patriots

Jay County roundup

A night after tallying just three hits in a loss to Bellmont, the Patriots found offense even harder to come by.
The Jay County High School softball team finished with two hits Friday in a 3-0 loss to the visiting Wes-Del Warriors.
Abbey Vance took the loss as she gave up single runs in the fourth, sixth and seventh innings. She allowed six hits and two walks while striking out three.
Chelsea Tighe had a double for the Patriots, who dropped to 12-9 with their third straight defeat. They had won four straight heading in to this week.
Lexie Gierhart tallied the only other JCHS hit.

Bruins top baseball
Host Jay County dropped below .500 for the first time this season as it fell 7-1 Friday to the Blackford Bruins.
Kyle Selvey suffered the loss for the Patriots (9-10-1), giving up four runs — two earned — on five hits and two walks in five innings. Jason Houston allowed three runs in two innings of relief.
Chance Fuller finished 2-for-3 to lead JCHS, which opened its season with five straight victories. Selvey had a double, and Landry Inman and Houston each added a single.[[In-content Ad]]
