Warriors get four pins in win over Stars (12/20/06)

WOODBURN - The South Adams wrestling team managed just a single pin in a 33-24 loss Tuesday to the Woodlan Warriors.
Chase Sprunger (125) picked up the only pin for the Starfires, finishing off Kyle Ehle in 4-minutes, 37 seconds. Each of the team's other four wins came by decision.
Colt Gentis (119) scored a shutout over Jordan Buck, 6-0. Jim Marbach (130) defeated Ben Schulie 7-2, Dustin Ehr (145) topped Alex Dehr 5-1 and Jim West (HWT) beat Joe Geube 7-1.
Woodlan finished with four pins, including three in a row in the 152-, 160-, and 171-pound weight classes.
WJ tops Hartford City
West Jay Middle School's girls basketball teams each came up with victories Tuesday. The eighth graders topped Hartford City 32-23, and the seventh grade team eked out a 15-13 win.
A pair of Eagles reached double figures to lead the eighth grade team. Taylor Burris topped the list with 13 points, and Annie Jetmore finished with 11.
Marrissa Murrell led the victory for the seventh graders with six points. Paige Alsip added five points.
Fort shuts out UC
FORT RECOVERY - The Fort Recovery eighth grade girls basketball team pulled off a rare shut-out Tuesday, defeating Union City 49-0. The seventh graders turned in a couple of scoreless quarters in their 29-3 win.
Holly Brunswick scored 11 points to lead the Indian eighth graders, who were up 17-0 after the opening quarter as they improved to 4-1. Stacy Will had eight points, and Nicole Dilworth, Holly Thien and Abby Huelskamp each added six.
Fort Recovery's seventh grade squad is also 4-1 after holding Union City without a point in the second and fourth quarters. They had a 17-2 halftime lead as Karissa Will and Kelly Nietfeld led the way with six and five points respectively.
Lodge holds hoop shoot
The Dunkirk Elks Lodge held its hoop shoot competition Saturday with participants from Jay and Delaware counties.
Winning for the girls in each age group were Kasin Spay (12-13), Sydney Litchfield (10-11) and Alexis Wright (8-9). The boys champions were Tanner Lambert (8-9), Rob Fox (10-11) and Jenzen Glaze (12-13).[[In-content Ad]]
