Time changed
The Jay County Hospital Board of Trustees will hold its open session tonight starting at 6 p.m. in conference room A and B at the hospital. The meeting time was pushed back from 5:30 p.m.
Hip pain
A Portland man complained of hip pain Tuesday after his scooter collided with a 2000 Chevrolet Camaro driven by a rural Portland teenager.
Robert L. Culpepper, 48, 824 E. Water St., was transported to Jay County Hospital by Jay Emergency Medical Service, following the 3:35 p.m. accident in Portland.
According to Portland police, Culpepper was driving east in an alley located between Main and Water streets. As he crossed Morton Street, he collided with a southbound 2000 Chevrolet Camaro driven by Lucas R. Holcomb, 16, 1542 East 100 South. Police said Culpepper failed to yield the right of way.
Combined damage to the scooter and the car, registered to Curtis D. Foreman, same address as driver, was estimated at $1,000 to $2,500.
Parked vehicle hit
A rural Portland resident told police that a vehicle driven by an unknown person hit her car while she was at work on Tuesday.
Cassandra L. Eley, 5845 South U.S. 27, told Portland police her 2006 Honda was hit while it was parked at Stoneridge, 700 Industrial Park Drive, Portland. The rear of the car was hit between 6:20 a.m. and 3 p.m.
Damage was estimated at less than $1,000. Eley reported the damage to police at 3:07 p.m.
False alarm
An alarm at a Portland nursing home malfunctioned this morning.
Portland Firefighters were called to Persimmon Ridge, 200 N. Park St., today at 2:54 a.m. The first firefighters arrived at the scene at 2:57 a.m. Four firefighters responded with two trucks.
Firefighters determined the alarm was malfunctioning and left the scene at 3:04 a.m.[[In-content Ad]]
