Elizabeth Kreider

Services for Elizabeth A. "Libby" Kreider, 92, 409 E. Butler St., Fort Recovery, are Friday at 10:30 a.m. at Brockman-Boeckman Funeral Home in Fort Recovery with the Rev. Robert Dungan officiating. She died Monday at Bloomington (Ind.) Hospital.

Born in Portland on May 6, 1915, to Daniel and Elnora (McCain) Teeters, she was married on May 25, 1936, in Fort Recovery, to Ralph Kreider, who died on Feb. 13, 1989.

She was owner and operator of Kreider's Store in Fort Recovery.

A member of Order of Eastern Star Chapter No. 111 in Fort Recovery, she attended Fort Recovery United Methodist Church.

Survivors include two daughters, Margaret Bland, Portland, and Mrs. Jerry (Martha) Kaehr, Spencer; a son, John Kreider, Union City; a brother, Daniel Teeters, Indianapolis; 13 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

Visitation is Thursday from 3 to 8 p.m. and one hour prior to services on Friday at the funeral home.

Memorials may be sent to Fort Recovery United Methodist Church or State of the Heart Hospice.

Robert Bowers

Robert T. (Long) Bowers, 69, a former Winchester resident, died today at Persimmon Ridge in Portland.

Born on Sept. 17, 1938, in Alton, Ill. to Robert and Lila G. (Long) Bowers, he graduated from McKinley High School in Randolph County in 1956.

He was married to Phyllis Smiley from 1956 until 1977.

A veteran of the United States Air Force, he was a member of American Legion Post No. 211 of Portland and a former member of the Moose Lodge in Winchester.

He worked as a prison guard in Pendleton and Marion, Ill., was an investigator for the Prosecuting Attorney's Office in Jay County and worked as a probation officer in Portland in the 1970's.

Survivors include three daughters, Mrs. John (Karla) McDowell, Fort Recovery, Mrs. Alan (Brenda) Bailey, rural Portland, and Mrs. Ted (Karen) Richards, Ridgeville; two brothers, Danny L. Long, Union City, Ohio, and Bill E. Long, Winchester; two sisters, Mrs. Bill (Evelyn) Knight and Mrs. Dick (Diana) Manson, both of Winchester; 13 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Services are Friday at 7 p.m. in the Portland Chapel of the Williamson and Spencer Funeral Home with Pastor Larry Evans officiating. American Legion Post No. 211 will conduct military rites at the funeral home.

Burial of the cremains will take place at a later date in Buena Vista Cemetery, west of Winchester.

Visitation is Friday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
